Who can hire and drive the vehicle?

Persons 21 years and older:
You must be 21 years of age or over and have a full drivers license. In New Zealand you can drive with your home country license. If your license is not in English, you should carry a translation of the license, or an International Driving Permit.

There is no extra cost for additional drivers

Persons 18 - 20 years old:
Drivers 18 - 20 years of age must have held a full license for atleast one year, and can then only drive a Car or Micro Campervan. The cost of insurance is the same.

What is included in the price?

All prices include roadside assistance, GST (sales tax), insurance and unlimited km. We provide free road maps and directories of holiday parks throughout New Zealand. We also have a limited number of free Bed and Breakfast books available.

What does each camper van contain?

All models feature one double or two single beds, kitchen cooking and eating utensils, a water container, hanging light and a 240 volt power cable for use at holiday parks. A weatherproof awning covers the rear door to provide standing room and privacy. A mosquito net covers the passenger window to allow a fresh air while all doors closed.

Optional extras for hire include an AC/DC fridge, DVD player with movies, solar shower, linen pack, out door table with chairs and a tent for hire.

Booking a Vehicle
We require a NZD$300 deposit (plus $6 credit card fee) to confirm a booking. The balance is payable when picking up the vehicle.

When picking up the vehicle and paying the balance, a credit card fee of 2 % applies to Visa, Master Card or American Express. There is no additional fee if paying by cash.

1. Changes to the Booking
Any changes to the booking are subject to availability, and must be made 7 days or more before the start of the hire. The price will be re-calculated at the rate applicable on the date of change. If the booking is cancelled, the deposit is non-refundable.

2. Additonal days:
Any additional days added to the hire (days added to the end of the hire with no change to the original pick up date) the average daily rate applied to the original booking will apply.

3. No Shows and Late Cancellations:
The deposit of $300 is non-refundable; however we will not charge any additional money.

4. Early Returns
There are no no Refunds for early returns.

5. Other Refunds
We will refund all receipts for repairs required to keep the vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition.

Example:
you may require some engine oil or a new interior light bulb. However you must phone us if the cost is over $100.

Insurance

Insurance (included): Standard excess is$2,000
Our insurance policy is very simple; if you have an accident, you are required to pay a maximum of$2,000. This covers single vehicle or multiple vehicle accidents. Credit or debit card bond is required.

Zero Excess (optional):$17 per day or $350 per hire
Our insurance policy is very simple; if you have an accident, you are required to pay a maximum of$2,000. This covers single vehicle or multiple vehicle accidents. Credit or debit card bond is required.Credit or debit card bond is required. Zero excess covers the first accident only.

How we calculate the amount of days:

Pickup and Drop Off:
We calculate all hires on a Calendar Day Basis. You may pickup the vehicle anytime after 8 a.m, however you are required to drop off the vehicle by 5 p.m. on the final day of hire.

Type of Hire:

One Island or All of New Zealand
Travel within one island (North or South Island only) and we offer a cheaper rate. Select All of New Zealand if you would like to travel both islands.

Split Hire (multiple hire)
Hire one vehicle in the North Island and another vehicle in the South Island (or vice versa). Make your own way between the North and South Island at your own pace, or fly. You only need pay for the days you’re using the vehicle (we calculated the price as one hire). This means if you hire extras like outdoor table and chairs, a linen pack or choose the zero excess for insurance, you only pay once. You also save on the ferry crossing, receive any long term hire discounts and there is no one way fee. Minimum hire period for each island is seven days.

Road Restrictions

You can drive the vehicle on all public sealed and unsealed roads in New Zealand except for three roads – Ninety Mile Beach, Ball Hutt Road and Skippers Canyon.

a. Ninety mile beach (Far North)
Ninety mile beach is a registered road, accessible via Te Paki Stream. Six wheel drive buses provide daily tours along the beach and some even drive on the sand dunes. You are allowed to drive along the main highway to Cape Reinga and the light house, which is one of the northern most points of New Zealand. Bus trips along Ninety Mile Beach are available from Kaitia and the Bay of Islands.

b. Ball Hutt Road Road (Mt Cook)
This road goes travels up the side of New Zealand’s highest mount, Mount Cook. You can drive as far as the visitors centre.

c. Skippers Canyon Road (Queenstown)
This very steep, single lane road was hand carved (with the help of dynamite) in 1902; it took 20 years to complete. It was used during the gold rush days and is now home to AJ Hackett’s Pipeline Bungy Jump, Shotover Jet Boat Tours and Winky’s Gold Mining Museum. Daily tour buses can take you down into the Canyon.
